(Middle School Supervisor)
I came to building Futures Academy in August 2013. I have worked in the child development field for the past 19 years. I started out as an assistant, teaching gymnastics in an after school arts community program in my hometown of New Paltz, NY. I then worked for the YMCA for many years as Unit Director for a traditional summer day camp. During the school year I was heading up the YMCA before & after school program at the local elementary school. The YMCA gave me a great opportunity to start my own gymnastics program on Saturday mornings, and it was wonderful. I got to combine my love for gymnastics (a sport that I participated in from age 4 to 17) and my love for working with children.
In 1999 I went back to work at a childcare center, it was a good match for me as I needed a more suitable work schedule. I worked in the four year old room and absolutely loved it! The year 2000 brought marriage, and a little over a year later my husband TJ and I welcomed our first daughter, Fiona. I stopped working to stay home with Fiona, and returned to work part-time. We made a couple moves due to my husbands job (from NY to FL, and back to NY and finally to FL). During that time, in 2006 our second daughter Cecilia was born and our family was complete. The second move to FL brought us to Clermont, where I worked in a two year old room in a childcare center that catered to about 50-60 children on a given day. In March of 2013 our family moved to Mount Dora, and I am happy to say, we are here to stay!
Over the years I have found that working with children is so rewarding and fulfilling. It is truly amazing to watch a child grow, learn, and create friendships right before your eyes! I have completed all of the required courses in order to work in a Florida Childcare Center, and complete CEU's each year. I hold a current certification in CPR for professionals. I take great pride in what I do, and I truly believe in each and every child has been blessed with their own special magic that they are going to share with this great big world!

Her children are very active in sports, and because of that you may hear her around the school making up cheers in the classrooms!
She is the co-teacher/assistant in the Pre-k/K class, as well as aides in some of the other academy classrooms.
